15 September 2009
Ismail Haneyya, the premier of the Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip, has briefed Dr. Yousef Al-Qaradawi, the secretary general of the international union of Muslim scholars, on Zionist threats against occupied Jerusalem. A statement by Haneyya's office on Monday said that the premier reached Sheikh Qaradawi over the telephone and informed him of the dangers threatening Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque. He highlighted the escalating Israeli occupation authority's (IOA) judaization policy, the demolition of homes, digging tunnels, persecuting citizens and banning citizens' from reaching the Aqsa Mosque for prayers. Haneyya also talked about the suffering of the Gaza population in light of the stringent IOA siege that has been ongoing for more than three years. Arab parliament refuses normalization before full withdrawal Meanwhile, The transitory Arab parliamentary union has refused calls for normalization of relations with Israel before its complete withdrawal from all Arab lands occupied in 1967. The parliament in a final statement at conclusion of its second session for 2009 in Damascus on Monday also affirmed the Arab identity of occupied Jerusalem and its absolute rejection of the Israeli occupation authority's judaization of the holy city and attempts to wipe out its Arab identity. It supported the Palestinian refugees' right of return, and said that the Palestine cause is a pivotal Arab question. The Arab parliamentarians championed an early end to the internal Palestinian discord, and urged the Palestinians to cement their ranks and stick to national unity as the path towards the independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
