Whereabouts Of Captured Israeli Soldier Gilad Shalit Only Known By A Few
11 July 2009
GAZA, (PIC)-- Dr. Osama Al-Muzzaini, one of Hamas's political leaders, has underlined that only a few members of the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas knew the whereabouts of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit because of the seriousness of this issue. He told Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper published on Friday that none of Hamas's political or even armed wing leaders know of Shalit's location. "The closed circle of people concerned with the issue is not in contact with the Hamas leadership as a security precaution", he said, adding that this leadership does not know the health condition of Shalit following the latest Israeli war on Gaza. "We really don't know whether he is wounded or dead," Muzzaini said, adding that the fate of Shalit would be known only when the exchange deal is materialized. The Hamas leader renewed his Movement's insistence on its demands for the release of Shalit, denying that Hamas had agreed to change the list of names of Palestinian prisoners to be freed in return for Shalit. Egypt did not tell Hamas about resuming prisoner swap talks Senior Hamas official Osama Al-Muzaini stated Wednesday that the Egyptian side did not tell his Movement about anything related to the resumption of the prisoner swap talks with Israel. Muzaini noted that his Movement, however, would be ready to conclude a prisoner swap deal if Israel accepted to fulfil its demands. He underlined that Hamas demands the release of 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in two batches in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, where Israel has to release initially 450 prisoners in addition to women, children, ministers and lawmakers in its jails, and then release 550 others.
