Civilians Complain On Philippines AFP Operation In Maguindanao

Civilian folks of Barangay Kilangan in Pagalungan, Maguindanao expressed dismay over operation conducted early morning today by 7th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the area. Accordingly, the targets of AFP operations were certain Lastikman and Jose whose cases, allegedly, involved carting away scores of military firearms and robbery, respectively. Lastikman and Jose had escaped the operation. But the military still scour the area as of press time (9AM). Information relayed to Luwaran.com stemmed said the government soldiers opened fire indiscriminately which could have killed or injured civilians in the area. Civilians expressed fear of the prolonged stay and operations of the military in the area, citing pass experiences when military men instead arrested innocent civilians when real targets had escaped. Civilians said for the sake of producing accomplishment, military were resorting to arresting innocent civilians and fall guy. And if the military were being charged with illegal arrest then military would explained that there was no illegal arrest but had just invited subject person for some questioning. Abuses and harm inflicted on civilians in the midst of AFP operations are violation to the government and MILF ceasefire agreement.
